Rebates and refunds

General Practitioners and Psychiatrists are able to provide referrals to me for counselling which entitle patients to a generous Medicare rebate.

This is because I am I am  Medicare  registered Allied Health Professional and Australian Association of Social Workers certified mental health social worker (MHSW). When making an appointment to seek a referral, inform the receptionist that you wish to see your doctor regarding a Mental Health Plan (Medicare Item 2710) as a longer appointment than usual will be needed.

If you doctor considers the referral appropriate, you will be entitled to up to 10 sessions of counselling.
